I remember how alien-like Windows 7 beta was when it first came out (the beta version of course). It was wayyyy different than XP.

XP and Windows 7 are good solid operating systems. Vista just seems to be more of a taking, rather than a giving. When my laptop arrived, and I used Vista, I do have to say, it coped well. It was smooth most of the time. This was with all the fancy crap turned off to make it better for me, as I knew what I was getting into with Vista. If it sees a spare megabyte of RAM, it will snatch it and keep it, the greedy *******. >.>
On the other hand, same specs in my machine, Windows 7 Ultimate running on it, with all fancy effects enabled, it's about as smooth as what Vista was, if not smoother. That's from my experience.

When we upgraded my dads computer from Vista to 7, there was such a significant performance upgrade I couldn't believe it was the same computer. And it wasnt even that slow to begin with, Quad Phenom 9500 2.2ghz 3gb ram etc. etc.
But then we upgraded it to 6gb of ram and a Nvidia 250GTS 1gb card. Not a bad card either, runs all games we've tried at Extreme/Ultra no problem.
Now its ssssoo fast.

I don't bother with a gaming PC, I just use it for Adobe CS and office and internet use.

It deserves them.
@ Luke - Consoles for gaming, computers for computing. Plus, any games I have for PC will work on my current configuration without a hitch.

I am using Mac OS X, and I'm pleased with it.. Haven't had any issues, unlike my PC~
