I hate the idea of "social", meaning Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and the like. Social is face-to-face, c'mon people!

*rolls eyes* This new idea of 'social' is what's spoiling people's lives. What are you talking about? I've never had so many friends in my life! Sure, I've only talked to half of them once or twice, but what does that matter?

The only reason I still use Facebook is because there are a few people who I don't get to see who I like to catch up on.

The only use Facebook really has regarding socialization, is when there are friends overseas, or friends who have moved away, where you can easily contact them. Apart from that, I'd prefer to chat face-to-face.
How can you call someone who you don't know, and have added on Facebook, a friend? You are simply given a few details about the person (which may be fake), and you trust they are what you see. You can't call them a friend if you've only talked to them once or twice.
What is the world coming to?

Well, now we're getting into the territory of, what constitutes a "friend?" What requirements must be fulfilled in order to call someone a friend (vs, for example, an acquaintance)? According to Facebook, the only requirement to call someone a "Facebook friend" is to accept that a request that states that you "know" someone. I take it that DylRicho, for instance, has very different requirements as to what constitutes a friend.
I will say, not everyone has the privilege of having face-to-face conversations with people they know. I recently graduated from college, and all my close friends are now in other states or cities. I have spent the last couple summers doing different theatre internships, several of which have been in other states. So, talking online is the only convenient way I have of talking to a lot of the people I know.

What is the world coming to? Then don't add strangers and keep your information to a group of people who you want to see it? Youre reminding me of Robert from support:p
