I'm potentially interested in playing a small role. Do you have any screenshots of your current software anywhere?

Hey echnaret! First off, I'm Ben - the rForums Project Manager, so I'll try and answer your question. Now, I am not aware that a version of rFourms 2.0 (aka Toast, which is our next version) is up and running - The Developers may have a test board they use locally. We did have a copy of rForums 1.5 which is our current stable release but that has since been taken down. As with 2.0, I am not aware of any 1.5.1 live sites. So, in a nut shell ( ) I don't have any screenshots sorry. What I can do is provide you with a copy of the lastest release (1.5 which is available on SF.com) or I can take some screenshots on a local copy? Your choice. More information on rFourms: www.rfbackup.proboards.com www.rforums.org/blogLet me know.

I tried copying the mercurial repository, and there was nothing there.

Haha just a warning. That is ooold and buggy. We've got a newer version (1.5.1) that is in the works. (on top of rF 2 of course!)

Hahaha yeaaah we probably should have updated. I have to grab a backup from another computer (which I wont be able to do until the weekend) so I can restore 1.5.1 to a better version. The current, which is located rforums.org/151, doesnt have the tweaks we've worked on since updating it in the dropbox. I wish we had the version we were developing before. The best version of 1.5 I've ever seen. It (almost) had a chat system, it had an improved design, a bunch of improved customization tools... Unfortunately we were foolish enough to not back up a free host. Tisk, tisk. Ahh well, lesson learned. We have many backups. (Which reminds me, I should make one now..)

Do you guys not use version control software? Just making backups is ok, but it becomes difficult very quickly to compare different versions of your software. Yeah, from what little I've done with the Google code version, 1.5 is indeed a bit rough. I will withhold judgement until I see the latest version, though.

We dont use version control software, but we are looking into it. We are currently interested in GitHub. The latest 1.5 (1.5.1, which is technically 1.5.6 if we go by old-version types), is still a bit.. ugly. I validated the CSS and it really made a difference. It loaded faster, and mobile devices ran it more smoothly. The code is a bit wacky, but its been cleaned up since the current released version. I really hope that backup is still in existence, Im going to be reaaaally pissed if my brother erased it.. And of course the later version, rF 2 (aka "Toast") is currently in its early stages, so its difficult to judge just yet.

I've never used Git before. I'm more of a Mercurial person, myself. Either way, it is nice to use external version control. That way, you never have to worry about misplacing your code. Anyways, I checked out the demo board you put up, and it looks pretty good (a bit nicer than mine, at least..). It's just missing a few images

I might have a shot at developing rF again in the near future; I am curious to see how far it can go. Just set up an SVN: subversion.tigris.org/

Thanks for registering and applying echnaret. I've hosted a the latest copy of 1.5 (note, not 1.5.1) that I have. As Colin said, it's old and buggy and isn't supported officially. However, I'm sure someone in the community will be happy to help if you need it. rforums.org/downloads/rForums%201.5.zipEnjoy!

I applied: where the hell is my thank you? Well, I'm not exactly on the team quite yet, but thanks for showing an interest.
