I was reading on Tom's Hardware, and I guess Intel reported that they were currently producing the new Ivy Bridge Cpus already in masses. The Ivy Bridge cpus will feature a 22nm manufacturing tech (up from the current 32nm, introducing 3d transistors instead of the original 2d (flat) ones. This will allow more transistors to be packed on one piece of silicon, giving more performance! I heard this in an article that the new cpus will be named the i7-3700, i5-3600 vs. the Sandy Bridge's i7-2600 and i5-2500. Not sure about the frequencies or cores, but I'm guessing the cores will probably remain the same? Though I could be wrong. Anyways, here is the full article: www.tomshardware.com/news/ivy-bridge-processor-release-22nm-3d-transistor,13753.html

You're a bit slow on the uptake.
8-core processors are a definite.

Well they're making 6 core Ivy Bridges as the Enthusiast/Extreme editions, so I don't see why the normal desktop ones would exceed that.
I don't believe they're making 8-cores until sometime next year.

Yes, I was referring to next year.
