They can also be cheaper, have more screen real-estate and are more powerful.

Plus you are not limited to what you can stick on it. You are at complete control of your machine, and the OS does not limit you to what you can do with it.

Its just an example I know there are better tablets out there. I just dont get why people complain about them so much if they dont like them. Also I almost scored a Acer for 140 Personally Id rather have a crappy laptop they a fast tablet at least laptops do what you want them to. Tablets arent all that universal with people but hey, technicall you cant compare one to a pc because its not a laptop what so ever. Sure there are tablet pcs you can use with your pc but new tablets coming out today aren't mean to be so universal. I say just buy a $400 laptop with outputs on it and at least 2gbs if ram and your all set. oh yeah and Ethernet.

For £350, you can get 4GB RAM and a Core 2 Duo processor. You can't even get 512MB RAM or a single-core 1GHz processor for that in regards to tablet PCs.
Also Kenneth, you say I can't compare them because they are not laptops? Well actually, they are designed to replace the netbook, which is a small form of laptop, and manufacturers like Sony have already started replacing their netbook lines with tablet PCs.
Personally, I hope tablet PCs never take over laptops. If I want a tablet PC, I'll buy one! I don't want one forced down my throat by a manufacturer just because they decided to 'think big' and replace their laptops with bollocks tablet PCs. >.>

The point still stands, there not made to be universal. You buy a companies product and they expect you to abide by there rules. If they don't want a camera in it for example then they'd suggest you to buy a camera separate...It's all a marketing technique. Now there are universal tablets out there Eg: USB ports. Some even have HDMi This is why I say your better off buying another product that suits your needs instead of just complaining about how bad a companies product is. Gamers are a a good example, they don't like the ps3 do they buy a 360 It's like telling a chef how to cook right. If you don't like there food just walk away from it. Ps: Jailbroken devices are epic.

Like it or not, tablet PCs will be replacing netbooks in the future, and as I said Sony have already started. They can be compared because they use the same hardware. A tablet PC is basically a touchscreen all-in-one desktop computer, which exist in their own right. The only differences being that tablets are obviously smaller and lighter so you are able to carry them around with you. For £350, you can get 4GB RAM and a Core 2 Duo processor. They may very well be, but for the price you pay, you should not need to jailbreak your iOS device in order to take advantage of something Apple should've included in the first place - for example - video recording in the early iPhones.

Again your buying there product, to them it'd be just the same as complaining that you don't like the color of there product. I suggest always researching the products features and as I've said just buy something else, just because it isn't talked about as much doesn't mean it wont do the job just as good. I should move this to the debate board

You are missing my point. Ordinary phones in early years even had video recording and then you come to a 'smart'phone which does not have it? The whole idea of a smartphone is to include advanced features that ordinary phones and feature phones don't have. I can't imagine the amount of people who wasted their money on the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G.

So if an iPad was $20 you'd buy one?

No, because I hate the OS. It's too limited and there's not much customizability as compared to Android with HTC Sense stuck on-top.
Also, I see no point in getting a tablet PC, as I have a laptop which I can do a lot more with.

If you hate something so badly why continue to give it attention?

So if an iPad was $20 you'd buy one? Shit, for 20 bucks I would definitely buy one! Then sell it for much much much more than that.

I would never buy an Apple iPad 3 because they are not worth the price and they will just be the same as the iPad and the iPad 2 but with a higher screen resolution.
