I would like people to explain why you do or do not believe in the existence of a God(s) and/or higher power. This can also cover deism, if you want to get technical.

I'm not sure what I believe, sometimes I do believe in god sometimes I don't, if I'm in a bad situation I tend to hope he's there.

I am a devout Catholic.
I used to believe because that is what i was taught. But about a year ago i started thinking about how my parents aren't always right. Now i believe because i see more science pointing to God then pointing away from him. I also have read books and watched movies about this. It would be hard for me to live life without knowing that there is someone who will always be there for me. well two people. God and my guardian Angel.

I have studied this subject extensively and I have not seen a single piece of reputable scientific evidence point to God. Please show your sources.

Show me yours that point away from him... Sorry i don't have things i can show you because most of them are data i have seen on stuff from my grandpa and in books. What i have seen is that it is impossible that the universe came from nothing and the only other way is for it to be created. No one thinks the earth was always there but people still don't want to accept God. The chances of it happening by chance are...impossible More science point to God than away from him..? My sources are that I do a science degree majoring in human biology and computer science. Also its the fact that all the findings of both biology and physics AND chemistry have all unanimously pointed away from the existence of a god.
In fact if you so much as google scholar the word god, it comes up with research papers about why it is impossible for the teachings of the Bible to be true due to recent archeological finds, and papers on "mythology" (inferring its not true). Google scholar by the way is a search engine for SCIENTIFIC PAPERS. There is not a single shred of science that points TO God the appears when you search for him. Anyone who tries to give you scientific evidence for the existence of God i can say with 99.9% surety that they are lying through their teeth, or are completely deluded.
It is not impossible that the universe came from nothing. The chances of it happening are almost 100%, have you never heard of the big bang theory... You do realize that the statement "No one thinks the earth was always there but people still don't want to accept God" is hilariously ignorant right? Science shows PRECISELY how the earth came to be, without the need to invoke a higher power.

You gave me a whole bunch of numbers and said that science said whatever but you didn't give me any quotes proving what you said. All i have right now is your opinion.

You gave me a whole bunch of numbers and said that science said whatever but you didn't give me any quotes proving what you said. All i have right now is your opinion. LOL. I gave you no "numbers" at all. I told you exactly how to find what I did, its not my fault you either didn't read that properly, or are too simple minded to understand. Also I don't see any of your "evidence", so far all you have given is personal opinion. I explicitly stated that a search on "google scholar" bought up certain results. scholar.google.com.au/Try it yourself, keeping in mind that google scholar keeps mostly scientific research papers. Although occasionally a crappy one gets through the spam filter and will tell you that oranges can cure cancer, or some such. Also heres some more evidence: Read any anthropology book ever written. Or take a basic human biology or biology course at school. I have never met a scientist who believed in God as you know him, and I am part of the science department at a university.
