I heard MSN 2011 isn't good I've tested it, and I have to say, I prefer 2009, which I now use. If I can, I will upgrade WLMM to 2011 and keep Messenger 2009. It will be tricky, but it is possible. I think it's too bulky with the Facebook addon, and it takes much longer to load up than 2009. Oh and you can't change your display name in 2011, as the name it uses is from your Windows Live profile.

It allows you to update your status and such from Windows Live Messenger's main window.
