So I stuck in a Phenom II X6 1090t cpu in my computer as well as transferred the whole thing into this cool alienware case I had laying around. The alienware case is from around 1999 and it is really neat. It's a little loud though, so I am going to be modding it (bigger side fan, sound dampening etc.)
I'm installing ubuntu 11.10 as we speak!

The old Phenom x6 CPUs don't look great on a lot of benchmarks -- but I find even now they are amazing for every-day use just because they can handle so many threads. Everything stays super responsive for general every-day use. Of course if you are going to do something like super hard-core gaming they aren't the greatest thing, but they get the job done consistently.
