Photoshop - $800 or so Gimp - Free
Both have almost same functionality. Which one, eh? -A

Although Gimp may have a lot of the features Photoshop has, I find Photoshop's user interface is easier to use than Gimp's. The multiple windows that Gimp has are quite annoying since one is often overlapping the other(s). Maybe with the next Gimp release they will improve upon the UI. For as little as I use image editing software and seeing how expensive Photoshop is I think I will stick with Gimp for now. In my opinion though Photoshop is defiantaly better than gimp when it comes to usability.

Moneyman, you can change the 'multiple windows' issue in the settings.
