I'm a new member here, but I used to browse as a guest. My area of specialty is C++, so I will be posting links to my programs here most likely. I showed this site to a friend of mine who also codes and he might sign up in a day or two... I play this neat game called Marble Blast. It's where you a marble and you have to make across 3-D landscapes from a start pad to a finish pad. Basically marbles put into a platformer game. Unfortunately, this February, a Corporation known as IAC took the game off the market for unknown reasons as of right now...

That's fine. I'm about halfway through the book and you might already know more about the language than I do!

I hardly know how to say 'Hello World' , so you could probably teach me something. What compiler do you use?

I only began coding recently as in two-three weeks ago. I know a little HTML, a little C, a little C#, and I'm just getting to C++.

Thats not a compiler. Its an IDE. It uses the GNU compilers. Also C++ is an overrated language. I can't decide if your a troll or not.

Also C++ is an overrated language. Why do you say that?

Also C++ is an overrated language. Why do you say that? Because its a 30 year old bastardization of procedural and object oriented paradigms - neither of which it does very well and neither of which were very good to begin with. Unless of course you count Lisp, but that wasn't truly Object Oriented, a real bird is much more than a picture of one. In fact I would say C++'s OOP model is little more than a weak metaphor alluding to the power of languages like Lisp. OO programming has moved on, and C++ hasn't. Look at Java, its almost reaching the point of Object-Relational Programming as opposed to weak OOP. The only advantage C++/C has are its massive libraries of code, and its incredibly good compilers, which are second only to FORTRAN compilers. I think people need to stop focusing on C++ and OOP, and start looking at concurrent languages like Erlang, functional languages like Haskell or better yet the next level of C++ (as I see it) in languages like Ocaml/F# that manage to marry full Lisp-like OOP, imperative and functional programming all at once. Actually as much as I hate the language I thin Javascript will be one of the biggest languages in the future as well.

Well, when I'm done with C++ I'm moving on to something more productive, meaning I agree with you. I don't really like it, but I have to learn it for a project I'm in on with my friends.

LOL Here's my advice, just stop learning C++ if you don't like it. If you don't enjoy programming in C++ then you are never going to be able write good code with it and whatever you write will be complete and utter crap. And something more productive? What does that suppose to mean? You mean C++ isn't productive enough for you? Look around dear, most of the application that you use is either written in C or C++. Funny, you come here saying you like C++ and when someone gives their opinion on C++, you completely change your mind and say you don't like it. Tells me how completely ignorant you are about programming...

I didn't even get to say hi. Why didn't you guys just let him code in what he wanted to instead of giving him criticism, he wasn't giving anyone else criticism for coding in what you want to, it just wasn't necessary
