My dad bought tickets for him to go watch a movie and it was $19 if you had your own 3D glasses or $20 if you didn't. Now you may think that might be cheap compared to where you live but it used to be around $10 when I moved to NZ so it's doubled in price basically. I think they are trying to take advantage of us How much does it cost where you live?

Goddamnit.. torrenting is illegal there and movies are ridiculously over priced? I hope one of the two things get fixed before I live there for a year..

It's about £7.30 for a ticket here, which is almost $12.
Drinks and snacks are high priced too, like £4 for a coke!

Alright, guys. I went to the movies last night to see Contagion (okay movie). There is not many times I got to the movies, but when I do it's usually a special occasion, or a date. In this case me and my girlfriend went together. I didn't think it was going to be a big deal, if it wasn't for the fact how much the movies has ripped me off.
The last time I went to the movie theater was maybe two years ago, and have prices changed. Here's my bill:
(2) Movie Tickets for Contagion: $22 Dollars SMALL Popcorn: $6.99 Small Soda: $4.99 Total: $33.98
$33 for a night out, in two hours. Alright, I understand that I could've gone out somewhere else and spent the same amount but this how much I spent on some crappy snacks, and a okay movie.. Could've bought myself some Swiss Chocolate for that much

Movies are generally a rip no matter where you're at. Although I used to go to this small theatre that showed movies a few months after initial release which meant the tickets were damn cheap (about 3 bucks a ticket). I was sad to see it closed down the other day. They're about $10/each out here. I only go if there's major interest in the movie, or if someone's got movie passes.
