What is your favorite program for writing code?
Personally, I'm a huge fan of gVim, a (slightly simpler) form of vim.

Usually the built in cPanel file editor. Though if I'm working on a big project, dreamweaver is a lot easier because I can work with multiple scripts without having to go through editors on the internet. Since my bandwidth isn't the best, Dreamweaver thrives when I'm working on big projects.

Vim is pretty nice. I don't mind using netbeans when I need too.
Code::blocks is OK too.

I normally just use Notepad++ because of its support for syntax highlighting so many languages, but I also enjoy using vim, Codeblocks, Visual Studio and Eclipse.

Visual Studio is probably the best for C++ development, but I prefer to use CodeBlocks for smaller projects since it doesn't create as many project files and folders as Visual Studio. Eclipse is what you should use when developing in Java, especially since that's what you will probably use in the industry since IBM has created their own version of Eclipse that is widely used. Vim is great if you have been using it a while, but it takes time to learn.

Visual Studio and Eclipse do much more than Notepad++ because they are IDE's and are designed to be able to handle large projects. Visual Studio has the drag and drop GUI features like you are referring to, but it also has many other more important features. Alot of them deal with compiling your code which you don't have to do in web development since all the languages are interpreted. If you ever get into programming, you'll need to learn how to use an IDE. Vim is more like Notepad++, but more powerful.

Moved from DevC++ to VC++ Express couple of years ago. And for HTML and learning PHP, I use some crappy web based editor... Oh yeah and I used to do some Java programming in Netbeans but I never liked programming in Java...

I've fallen in love with Sublime Text Editor (: My friend just mentioned that he got that the other day. If I didn't spend big bucks on dreamweaver, that'd probably be what I'm using right now!
