So I was anticipating the iPhone 5 to come out today, but instead the 4s came out. The biggest new features would be the ARM A5 dual core cpu, and an 8MP camera! So there has been a rumor going around, and it is as follows: Sprint has recently paid Apple $20 billion dollars for what nobody is quite sure. However there is some speculation. What I think is that Sprint bought the contract for the iPhone 5 so they could be the exclusive retailers of the iPhone 5. It'll probably be for a set period of time like a year or two. That would put Sprint back into competition with Verizon and AT&T. So that's why Apple released the 4s so that Verizon and AT&T would have something to sell That is what I got from the couple articles I read. It's only rumors as of now, but I could easily see them being at least close! Are any of you going to by the 4s? Or wait until the iPhone 5 comes out. (will you buy it if it is Sprint exclusive?) Also, you can now buy a 3gs iPhone on apple.com for $0. Pretty amusing to look at

The iPhone 5 has already been announced to have had Steve Jobs' input into it (the 4S didn't), and it will feature a larger screen (4.0" at least) and a redesign, which is what most customers who saw the 4S were disappointed about. Everyone was expecting an iPhone 5 with a new design, but instead they got a £700 ripoff. The iPhone 4S includes the following features, which were not precent in the iPhone 4: - Dual-core A5 processor from the iPad underclocked to 800MHz
- 8.0MP camera (f/2.4, IR filter, image stabilization) 1080pHD video at 30fps
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Voice-control assistant called Siri *
- iOS 5.0 *
- Multiple wireless antennae to solve the previous iPhone 4 antenna issue
* - Siri is under development to allow it to be ported to the iPhone 4, whilst iOS 5 is available for the iPhone 3GS/4, iPod Touch and the iPad and iPad 2. To be perfectly honest with you, I find the 4S a complete disappointment. Android phones have been pushing dual-core processors for at least a year now, Google has been developing voice assistant software for many months, and I'm sorry, but only 512MB of RAM in a smartphone of this category - especially when other manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung are pushing out phones with 1GB of RAM? Simply appalling. What makes this phone even worse, is that within 6 or so months, you're going to start hearing about the iPhone 5, with better features, meaning you might as well just sell your 4S right now. Not to mention the fact, that Samsung are currently developing 16.0MP cameras for smartphones, NVIDIA are pushing out quad-core processors for Android smartphones and tablet PCs, and if you think your iPhone 4S' slow 3.5G capability of 14.4Mb/s is good, why don't you check out the 4G speeds of 42.2Mb/s equipped with the Samsung Galaxy S II. Now, we move onto the display. Yes, two or so years ago, the iPhone's "retina display" would be a top-end display. Phone displays have come along way, since the release of the iPhone 4, especially within the Android market. S-LCD screens, and Super AMOLED HD screens are brilliant, and with Samsung and Google's latest smartphone pushing out a resolution of 720x1280 on a 4.65" display, the iPhone's display is put to shame. And lastly, I'll talk about multi-tasking. Before the release of iOS 4, you were severely limited to multi-tasking on your iOS device, Apple only allowing certain apps to take advantage of this feature, in fear of it "draining the battery quickly" (oh no!). iOS 4 finally added proper multi-tasking, and iOS 5 has been revamped in this area to make it easier to switch between applications. Android has had multi-tasking functionality for years - Apple seriously need to keep up with the times. What's more, the user interface simply looks dull and outdated. Other manufacturers such as HTC in-particularly, are customizing the Android experience, making the user interface very colourful and vibrant. iOS is just full of dullness, and with it now being 4 years old, don't you think it's time Apple made a UI design improvement? This brings me to my last point - customizability. Android allows you to customize your phone to how you want it. iOS is limited in this aspect.

Apple are evil with the iOS 5. The new multi-tasking feature doesn't work on iPad 1 buy does on 2. They want us to upgrade but when we do something new comes

Now you're seeing the issue with Apple, congratulations.
And before anyone corrects the spelling mistake of 'precent' in my previous post - I tried editing the post to correct it, but the fucking thing didn't actually do anything when I saved it! -.-

It's really no different from the Roku xD and xs the only differene is the Roku xs has a USB port as to where i4S has a faster processor and maybe a newer design.
The iPod 4 is fast enough and you can get an 8gb for $200 (Make it a 2.0tb by streaming from your pc) there's really no need to put out a newer model but hey who are we to tell apple how to make money or what they can or can't put out?

The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S use identical shells. It's only the internals which have changed. In my opinion, a pointless upgrade.

If you already have an iPhone 4, it probably wouldn't be too bad of an upgrade. Even then, there are some pretty great features in the 4s, including a dual core processor, and an 8mp camera vs. the old 5mp one. It really comes down to what you use your phone for.

Does it really matter are you saying a person should buy a new pc that has say 32gb of ram when the pc your using has 8gb of ram? 8Gb of ram is more then enough there's no need to upgrade just because a new model comes out it's not like the iPhone 4 is going out dated any time soon The camera may be blurry but save the $100 and buy an hd camera that also has video on it. Just do your self a favor of saving money and buy the iPhone 4. I'm typing this message in real time on my iPod touch 4th and there's no lag what so ever. Or do your self a bigger favor and wait until they actually release an iPhone 5. Just my thoughts.

I agree, if you really want an iPhone, go for the iPhone 4. With the release of the 4S, the price has been knocked down by at least £80 here.
Now, earlier, I may have said that NVIDIA are releasing quad-core processors for Android devices, but in reality, think about it. Do you really need a phone which has a quad-core processor? A processor like that in a phone? 1GB of RAM in a phone? Or even a dual-core processor in a phone? A single-core CPU at 1.00GHz should be a good enough processor for the majority of people, who just use their phone for what phones are for - calls, texts, email, IM and social networks.
Nick, you may say that the iPhone 4S is a worthy upgrade, but think about it. The original iPhone 4 isn't exactly slow is it, with a single-core 1.00GHz processor?
As for the camera, if you really want the phone for the camera, why not just pick up a separate camera which will record better quality videos? It would be a damn sight cheaper than the phone.

Well I like that the iPhone is an all in one. I dont want to have to carry a phone and a camera. The processor is debatable, but I like ram, definitely for the iOS considering how it manages apps.

Eh, it's nice. The most annoying thing is that you have to manually go in to kill processes that hog your ram.
And I just read on Tom's Hardware that the 4s only have 512mb of ram, not 1gb as some thought.

Yes, I said it has 512MB of RAM. It's poor, when you think of its competitors. Especially when the base model costs at least £100 more, than other smartphones running Android, with 1GB of RAM.

Yeah. I'm still getting an iPhone though Apple is a very good backing company for their product.

@ Nick - Get an iPhone, just don't get the 4S!
And the iPhone 4 has 512MB - the RAM was not an upgrade.
