So the new version of Ubuntu was released a couple of weeks ago, and I was wondering if any of you have it!
I have seen screenshots, and it is quite an improvement. The last Ubuntu version I used was about 10.04, maybe 10.10 a little.
My bandwidth has been particularly good, so I'll probably download it tomorrow and give it a test drive. I'll be sure to report back!

I upgraded Xubuntu from 11.04 to 11.10. I can't see any major new features, but it's still running as good as ever. I still need to try out the new Firefox to see if my flash problems have gone away. I really do appreciate the fact that my desktop only has 512 MB of RAM, and that seems to be plenty for my internet browsing/music listening needs (the biggest bottle neck seems to be my Pentium 4 processor, at the moment ). I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 from 11.04 on a netbook I am borrowing from a friend, and it likewise seems very similar to the old version. Sadly, the only music player I can get to run without glitching out is the default, Banshee. After using it a little bit, I think it works quite well. Granted, it is a netbook, and it doesn't like it when I try to perform more than one task at a time, but overall, it works great as a music player/occasional internet browser.

My sister's PC is a 512MB Pentium 4 machine, and it runs Ubuntu 10.04 really well. Well mostly It only idles at around 135mb or something. And what type of netbook? I ran Ubuntu on an Asus 1215n for awhile and it ran great. Granted it is a higher end netbook It did however take up about 25% of my battery life that I could get in Windows.

I'm not sure how good the netbook is; I'm borrowing it from a friend, who really needed a small, portable computer to take overseas with him. It originally came with Windows XP. I think I'm going to try installing a lighter-weight Linux distro and see if I can make things run any faster. Ubuntu isn't exactly known as a light-weight OS...

Idk, I'm running it fine on a single core 2.2ghz celeron and 512mb ram 10 year old gateway laptop It was actually running on 384mb, but I upgraded it to 512mb, which is the most the motherboard will read unfortunately. It's even DDR But yes, there are definitely lighter alternatives.
