I once watched someone program a checkers game with AI in Visual Basic 6.
... it was hard to watch because this kid rarely showered and my eyes were watering, but from what I saw it was pretty intense. So focused.

I have not. I can't imagine it would be that exciting. I don't think I'm particularly exciting when I code. If the programmer was giving you a running narrative of what they were thinking, it might be somewhat interesting (because then you'd actually know what they were doing). I don't see it coming to prime-time TV anytime soon, though.
