I think it'd be fun to see a Blog board here and inside the main blog board it would have automatic RSS feed from News Websites Etc...Then a member can apply to have their own sub-board where they have full control over it Eg. Being able to lock delete their own topics they blog about. So they can write their own blogs.

I wish! xD
Interesting concept, but not very practical. Let's say we add this to Smangii's Slightly Insane. There are 16000+ members, with over 100+ of them currently active. If all 100+ wanted one, Smangii would have to create a sub-board for each member and edit their permissions. I mean, obviously there are limitations to who gets one but still. Plus, I'm not sure if you can give any member control over one board alone. Now, it is possible to do a code for some of this, however I don't think we're able to edit user permissions with code.

Couldn't you make a new user group and give them Blog permissions? Or find a Blog Mod that if the Blogger needs a topic closed or locked they could do so? That same Blog mod could create the sub-boards as well.

Yes, but that would give everyone with a blog the ability to edit not only each others posts, but all posts on the forum. Because of the limitations of v4.5, we are unable to get something like that to work. We could go all out and write a blog system which you can integrate into a proboards forum, but that would be very complex. Plus there are limitations there too. We'll have to see what Proboards V5 brings us. Hopefully the ability to do this, because I think it would be pretty sweet.

Same here I think v5 would put wordpress in it's place though Pat's been working on it every since 4.5 so who knows when it'll release like I've always said when a Programmer says soon that usually means when it's finished.

This is a very plausable idea! I will confront Luke about it.
And edenwax, if you make the moderator of only their blog board, they will only have permissions for that board only.

I cant really see it generating much interest. Personally, I feel what people post in their blog should be posted throughout the forum, whether its in the general boards or the entertainment boards.

People like to post in their own sections that way they can share posts on other sites, Or come in and organize their own posts. You wouldn't want to see Constants 'Today i did this or that' In the general boards or the entertainment boards. It's all about organization plus if they re-post the link to another forum it gives this forum more view. So they could use CodersCommunity as their blog site without having to buy a domain/Looking for a pretty theme with WordPress or other blog scripts.

Although I see where you are coming from, this just isn't very practical with the current ProBoards software especially if the forum were to grow as Edenwax was pointing out. I understand that members may want to use this to post interesting stuff that they may have done, read, or seen but the forum isn't about that kind of stuff; The theme of the forum is about coding and design. I'm not against trying to help the forum grow, but in this sense I think it would be better that if a member wanted something like that to just create their own blog on Blogspot or using Wordpress and put the link to it in their signature. Even if it was easily possible to do with ProBoards, I think it would be more suited for a general talk forum.

However, usually blogs have a specific topic or genre behind them. For example: - - Discussing an upcoming game and your excitement for it. - You got hit by a bus Or some other random scenarios. On a forum though compared to a blog, people can exchange similar stories. Could also have a status update thread, which people can use each post as a mini blog entry. Edit: Btw, I'm not bashing your idea. Just my personal opinion on the subject but their may be a demand for it.

All right, think of it less as a Blog and more of a area where members can share what's going on in their life. You wouldn't want to see those users talking about them self's or daily life every day in a general board would you? The main point in having a blog is to share what you've done or what you're doing right? If you guy's aren't against it then I honestly don't see why you're trying to pull up negative side affects to it. It's just something for fun and it is as useless as having a colored name, it's just about the features. If this board is a bout coding then they can talk about coding if they want. Really guy's. The software really doesn't matter you could of probably done it on v3. Looks at it like this.
-The Center -- Blog Board ---Users blog here
We don't necessarily have to give the person mod features we could assign a Board Mod who's willing to lock or do the mod thing within the boards. And I'm sure Luke could find someone willingly enough. The User just would have to understand that they'd have to wait to get their request filled. And if they abused the board then they could get it removed or locked for a week or something. I also suggest disabling post counts because some might see it as a easy way to higher their count if they kept making topics/replying every other day.
Hope that makes sense.

It is a possibility, but could get a bit crowded with sub-boards.
