I am atheist.
Say someone is ill in hospital. You don't rely on God to cure them, because that will never happen, which is why there are doctors and nurses.

What decides what is right and wrong if it isn't given to us by God? well this is simple everyone should know what it right and wrong it's as sime as that are you trying to say that if you were not told what is right or wrong by something you would go round causing havoc???

Religious is a guidelines, it was made by our ancestors, not by any god. Some centuries ago, religion use to believe that "the Lord set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved." and "the sun rises and sets and returns to its place", but now we know that it's the Earth that actually revolves around the Sun. If the religion was made by god, why did he gave us the wrong information? I though the god was omniscient... lol Our ancestors wrote the religion based on what they knew at that time...

God never said that the earth never moved. God himself didn't say anything wrong but the people who are inside the church may not have known that the earth rotated. That doesn't mean God was wrong though.

Oh so you do agree that religion was not made by god but people?
Biblical references Psalm 93:1, 96:10, and 1 Chronicles 16:30 include text (depending on the translation) stating that "the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved." In the same manner, Psalm 104:5 says, "the Lord set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved." Further, Ecclesiastes 1:5 states that "And the sun rises and sets and returns to its place" etc.

The pope and others inside the church have since stated that the bible although inspired by God was still written by humans. If he had told them to write that the world was round they wouldn't have believed Him.
Some of the things in the bible are not to be taken literally.

If he had told them to write that the world was round they wouldn't have believed Him. Some of the things in the bible are not to be taken literally. So let me get this straight, "some" things in the Bible aren't to be taken literally, but the parts that let you justify derision of gay people, condemnation of a poor teenage mothers, and the mass slaughter of thousands (cruisaides) ARE to be taken seriously? I thought the word of God was written in the Bible, if this is true why do you follow only parts of that, isn't that HERESY? In fact theres a part in the Old Testament that says as much I believe, Jesus gives a public speech in which he says something along the lines of; you must follow what I teach down to every word. Now you admit that the Bible was written by humans and is therefor imperfect. Is that so much a stretch of your imagination to think that the whole concept of God was ALSO "written" by humans? You see, we are an imperfect species, our pre-frontal cortex is too small, our adrenal glands too big and we are AFRAID! Afraid of the dark, of noises in the night, even of the great ball of fire in the sky. So in our past we invented a way to explain these, in the absence of the truth. Even if God did exist by some ridiculous existential fluke I would still dig my heels in and fight against him with all my will, and I will tell you why. Your God is incredibly callous, vindictive and childish. I find it monstrously selfish, and frighteningly vindictive that in the 3 billion years that Earth has been in existence God did not show himself. As amoeba grow in prehistoric swamps and slowly evolved in fish and marine life. As fish gradually moved onto land and started an explosion of land dwelling creatures. As Dinosaurs ruled the Earth, hundreds of millions of years ago, as they were killed and mammals took over. As our early ancestors bashed two flint stones together to make tools. As our ancestors became less ape-like through evolution and their brains expanded. As we, as a species emerged from Africa and covered the Earth. As our first societies flourished. Only now, about 2100 years ago, out of a possible 3 BILLION (3000000000) years or 0.00000007% of the age of Earth, he deems it necessary to show up and tell us that we a dirty, sinful pitiful creatures that should be punished. That he can watch us at ALL times, as we sleep, as we wake. That he is a divine dictator and will send us to eternal damnation if we so much as commit thought crime. This all seems like the work of an incredibly vindictive, evil and VILE dictator. Worse than Hitler, or Stalin or... ANYONE. So even if he does exist I will fight this monster till my death.

You follow everything in the bible. But most things can be interpreted in many ways. That is why we have the Pope and the church to help us understand. If you think he is a dictator then you are correct. But he hasn't done anything to hurt you. He gave us free will and lets us use it. Also you seem to believe in evolution. If so i would like to say that the only type of evolution that has EVER happened is Micro Evolution. If you go outside your shell and look at science you would notice that. Mods i don't think these are the best debates. Why don't we debate something that isn't so....controversial.

Firstly you can't just take away big debates because they are controversial. That is draconian and illogical. "You follow everything in the bible. But most things can be interpreted in many ways. That is why we have the Pope and the church to help us understand." If most things can be interpreted in many ways, whats so wrong with me interpreting them as false? "If you think he is a dictator then you are correct. But he hasn't done anything to hurt you. He gave us free will and lets us use it." I'm sorry but this is just silly. I cannot take you seriously if you are going to make arguments like that. He has done plenty to hurt me, and the human race in general. Millions have died in his name. There is a parable in the Bible of him asking a man to GUT HIS OWN SON to show his devotion to God, if that isn't the act of an evil dictator I don't know what is. God has been used subjugated black people, to justify slavery, to justify the slaughter of Jews, to justify discrimination against Gays, God has been used to preach the beating and subjugation of women. I can safely say that there is no dictator in the history of our species that has been more hurtful and violent than God. "Also you seem to believe in evolution. If so i would like to say that the only type of evolution that has EVER happened is Micro Evolution. If you go outside your shell and look at science you would notice that." So out of interest whats your qualification in science?Again I repeat, don't you dare presume to tell me about science. Like I have said, I am doing a science degree in university majoring in human biology, the majority of which is to do with evolution. You clearly know absolutely nothing about science, so don't varnish my or sciences name by spreading this poison, this utter garbage. I mean this in the most polite way possible, but you know NOTHING about either science or evolution and you have made this abundantly clear. There is an overwhelming plethora of evidence for evolution in its entirety. So much so that modern anthropology books (of which I have read dozens) barely even bother discussing the existence evolution anymore because it is completely and utterly accepted in the scientific community, do why don't you get out of YOUR shell and actually learn something? If you want to read this evidence I can recommend an almost hilariously large list of books, and quote an equally hilariously large list of famous studies. In fact just use Google scholar: scholar.google.com.au/scholar?q=evolution&hl=en&btnG=Search&as_sdt=2001&as_sdtp=onAs you can see there is not a single paper that talks about anything other than FULL ON evolution, there is NO-ONE in science that believes only micro-evolution has been observed. The fact that you think this accentuates your utter ignorance and almost hilarious arrogance. Go out of your shell and look at science, because you clearly never have. You do realize that modern anthropologists can see evolution happening even today? You do realize there are fossil records stretching back millions of years that literally show gradual change of species over time? Theres a famous example of the horse, where there are a number of perfectly preserved species that show a gradually changing animal. Its basically a perfect piece of evidence. In fact we have hundreds of fossils of our own ancestors: Australopithecus, Homo Habilis, Homo erectus, Homo ergastor, etc the list goes on. We can actually piece together the evolution of our own species! If you want to know more google any of those above mentioned names, or PM me and i'll give you a LONG list of books on the subject.

"Firstly you can't just take away big debates because they are controvertible. That is draconian and illogical." Our plan doesn't involve taking away debates completely, trust me.

As long as you guys don't start talking about the creation of the Earth, as that clearly was the result from the Big Bang. You may argue with the fact that God used his week wisely after it was made by filling the Earth with all its beautiful nature. Me on the other hand, happen to think it's just physics and nature working together slowly over periods of millions of years.
